Same Sky tells you to turn, raise or lower your phone until you are pointing towards the shared spot.
The actual idea
No map to watch.
A map answers “where?”. Same Sky answers the slightly stranger question: “which way?”. The guidance uses the direction between your position and their shared spot, even when that direction goes through the Earth.
The camera is optional. The direction works without it.
What leaves your phone
One encrypted spot.
Nothing extra.
Same Sky sends
- One current location sample
- How accurate that sample is
- When it was captured and when it expires
Same Sky does not send
- A trail or location history
- Background location updates
- Your speed, heading, address or contacts
The spot is end-to-end encrypted for the approved devices in your private connection. The service cannot read the coordinates. Your person could still save a copy, so Same Sky says that plainly before you share.
